The Official DNR Story, read it before Channel 5 get their hands on it.
Dave and Daniel were playing in a school covers band called
Egotrip with Jim Lee (The Aforementioned). After 2 years, Egotrip parted
ways and then in February '01 Dave and Daniel joined forces once again
to write new songs and found Jay as their permanent drummer, DNR was
born. After 2 consecutive 6 hour practises they had recorded a rough 8
track cassette. The songs had potential but poor recording ruined the
overall feel. An intimate gig in a back sitting room in February '01
debuted DNR to the world, well... 8 people. After a few more gigs at
schools and community halls DNR improved greatley. A debut gig at 204
in
April '02, followed by JAMFEST cemented their position as a great live
band. More gigs followed, including in a gig at the Glasgow Cathouse
for
Twisted Ape. They then went on to play at the Cathouse many more times,
then Strawberry Fields more times again, 13th Note club had them and
then they invaded Dundee. After much more gigs the band took a couple
of months off from gigging to concentrate on not failing exams, in the
meantime they also recorded 14 tracks which all appeared on the album
Code:333. Some shops still sell it. Unfortunatley relations in the band
were getting stressed, we wont put the details here, but in the end Jay
decided to call it a day with DNR. He played his last gig with
the band at a House party in the west end of Glasgow, in true Op Ivy
fashion. Ended the show with a equpiment smashing.
It did not take the band long to fill the drum stool again with the
mighty Puggs, also known as Stephen Clark. After 2 months of hard
practise DNR debuted the new lineup and sound at the Connellies
Halloween Party to good reviews. More gigs are planned and an EP is in
the works. All this from a band cited as Greenocks
answer
